In daily life, our knees are subjected to constant biomechanical (movement) loading and impact forces – even more so when we participate in sport and other physical activities. Such is the strain that we put on our knees, that research indicates that in our life time, at least 25% of us will have pain in a knee joint. Being overweight and/or obese will further increase the incidence of knee pain as there will be more impact forces and pressure on the knee joints.
Knee problems can have a very negative impact on one’s quality of life. Caused by various factors: direct trauma, repetitive loading, weight and ageing, knee injuries can in turn lead to a loss of mobility, inability to tolerate exercise and disrupted social activities.
Some injuries are so severe that surgery is necessary, and whilst there are a number of different knee operations designed to repair and prolong the life of the knee joint, pre and post-operative care is vital to getting the best results and that is where Physical Edge can help.
Here at Physical Edge we understand the appropriate rehabilitation protocols for different types of surgery. Our team of clinicians who specialise in prehabilitation and post-operative rehabilitation have years of experience and understand the physical and emotional support needed and are on hand to give you expert care.
At Physical Edge we go the extra mile to provide the best possible rehabilitation for you, so that you are active and mobile as soon as appropriate. Our offering includes close associations with leading surgeons in London; being at the cutting edge of research and surgical techniques and time invested discovering what is new and what works best for rehabilitation to deliver your optimum results.
As part of our unique pioneering approach, the team at Physical Edge have created the "Optimum Post-Operative Rehabilitation Blueprint". We understand a team approach, including patient contributions, is required for best results after surgery, and using this blueprint our team specialises in prehabilitation and post-operative recovery and offer a clear pathway to get back to an active lifestyle.
When you get in touch with the Physical Edge team, we'll start by finding a consultation time that works around your diary. We are open before, during, and after standard working hours - and if that doesn't work for you, we can arrange weekend appointments too.
When you get here, your consultation and assessment will take place in our comfortable and private treatment room. You'll be able to talk about your issue with one of our expert back pain specialists, and they'll tell you about the kinds of treatments we offer and what they think will be of most benefit.
We'll aim to start your therapy in this same session where possible - so it's a good idea to come in sports clothing. Don't worry if you're coming straight from the office though - you're welcome to change in our private changing area.
