Physiotherapy for sports injuries

We have a systematic approach to dealing with sports injuries with physiotherapy. We will consider your unique issue, the explore strengthening exercises, mobilisation techniques, pain relief strategies, and function skills development to help you work towards an enhanced level of performance.

We will use our expertise to put together a detailed rehabilitation process with personal goals - then monitor your progress as you work through your sessions.

Our sports injury services aren't just for use by professional athletes - whether your sporting injury has been picked up in the gym, playing sports in the park, or in professional competitions - we're confident our approach will take you back to your previous level of fitness and make you more resilient to injury moving forward.

Sports massage to treat a sports injury

If you play sports and you're suffering with a specific injury, our team has the elite-level knowledge and experience required to get you back in action as quickly as possible.

We often use soft tissue therapy and deep tissue friction massage to compliment physiotherapy or osteopath treatments. Combined, these approaches can be exceptionally effective.

The point of your pain isn't always where the issue lies - so we'll use a range of techniques to work with your muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia to make sure any potential issues are dealt with and you're less susceptible to injury going forward.

Don't worry - a sports massage won't be a feat of endurance. We'll make sure we're always working within your pain tolerance through careful communication and active listening.

Osteopathy for sports injuries

Unfortunately, sporting injuries are almost inevitable if you workout or train frequently. Osteopathy will help you recover quickly - and will make sure you're as resilient as possible going forward.

We have a proven track record of working extremely effectively with sports people at all levels. We'll employ proven approaches to enhance joint mobility, relieve muscle tension and ease soft tissue restrictions.

Expert knowledge of the athletic musculoskeletal framework and a combination of touch, physical manipulation, stretching, and massage will significantly improve your recovery time and restore the structural balance you need to perform.

The kinds of sports injuries we work with

There are very few injuries we're not equipped to deal with. Recent examples include:

  • Knee injuries

  • Rotator cuff injury

  • Achilles tendinitis

  • Heel pain

  • Tennis elbow

  • Shin splints

  • Plantar fasciitis

Of course, there are injuries that require specialist exercise medicine intervention from sports physicians or surgical intervention from orthopaedic surgeons. What happens at a Physical Edge sports injury consultation?

When you book a sports injury consultation here at Physical Edge, we'll begin by finding a time that works around your diary. Our sports injury clinic is open before, during, and after standard working hours - and if that still doesn't fit - we have weekend appointments available too.

Your assessment will take place in our comfortable and well-equipped private treatment room. You'll be able to talk to one of our expert therapists and, in turn, you'll ask some questions and walk you through possible treatment and rehabilitation plans.

We'll usually be able to start your treatment in the same session - so it's worth wearing or bringing some comfortable sports clothing. Don't worry if you've come straight from the office though - you're welcome to use our private changing facilities.
