The shoulder girdle is made up of several articulating joints, which are connected and influence each other’s motion. These joints work in synchrony to allow the many complex movements the shoulder can perform – not surprisingly the shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body. A reduction in this mobility caused by shoulder injuries can present as sudden stiffness, instability and/or intolerable pain.
Shoulder surgery requires careful post-operative rehabilitation, which is often best done slowly, to allow healing and time for the swelling to reduce.
Rehabilitation includes treatment to the site of the operation, and work to other body areas, which improves the biomechanics of the entire shoulder girdle.
Here at Physical Edge we understand the appropriate rehabilitation protocols for different types of surgery. Our team of clinicians who specialise in prehabilitation and post-operative rehabilitation have years of experience and understand the physical and emotional support needed and are on hand to give you expert care.
At Physical Edge we go the extra mile to provide the best possible rehabilitation for you, so that you are active and mobile as soon as appropriate. Our offering includes close associations with leading surgeons in London; being at the cutting edge of research and surgical techniques and time invested discovering what is new and what works best for rehabilitation to deliver your optimum results.
As part of our unique pioneering approach, the team at Physical Edge have created the "Optimum Post-Operative Rehabilitation Blueprint". We understand a team approach, including patient contributions, is required for best results after surgery, and using this blueprint our team specialises in prehabilitation and post-operative recovery and offer a clear pathway to get back to an active lifestyle.
Contact us today to understand how we can help you.
When you get in touch with the Physical Edge team, we'll start by finding a consultation time that works around your diary. We are open before, during, and after standard working hours - and if that doesn't work for you, we can arrange weekend appointments too.
When you get here, your consultation and assessment will take place in our comfortable and private treatment room. You'll be able to talk about your issue with one of our expert back pain specialists, and they'll tell you about the kinds of treatments we offer and what they think will be of most benefit.
We'll aim to start your therapy in this same session where possible - so it's a good idea to come in sports clothing. Don't worry if you're coming straight from the office though - you're welcome to change in our private changing area.
