Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialised, gentle form of massage that works with your body's lymphatic system — the network responsible for draining excess fluid, supporting immune function and keeping your tissues healthy.
Unlike a typical massage, MLD uses very light, rhythmic, skin-level movements to encourage lymph fluid to flow more effectively. It's a precise, hands-on technique that takes years of specialist training to master, rather than a relaxation treatment.
Our MLD practitioner trained in the Dr Vodder technique, the internationally recognised gold-standard method of MLD, and is a member of MLD UK. This means you can be confident you're receiving treatment from someone trained to a high clinical standard, with ongoing review to maintain that standard.

Post-surgical recovery
After surgery, it's common to experience swelling, bruising and tightness as the body heals. MLD can help reduce swelling by rerouting fluid away from the surgical site to healthy drainage pathways, while also easing bruising and supporting the body's natural healing process. Treatment is tailored to your stage of recovery, whether you're in the first few weeks or still experiencing swelling months on.
Lymphoedema
Lymphoedema is a long-term condition where the lymphatic system struggles to drain fluid effectively, leading to persistent swelling. As a certified lymphoedema practitioner, I offer specialist MLD alongside compression, skin care and self-management advice to help reduce swelling, ease discomfort and support long-term management of the condition. For more complex cases, I'm also trained in Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (DLT), which combines MLD with multi-layer bandaging for more intensive periods of treatment.
Lipoedema
Lipoedema is a chronic condition affecting the fat tissue, often causing pain, heaviness and swelling in the legs and arms. While it's a different condition to lymphoedema, the two can occur together. My approach combines specialist MLD with practical advice and ongoing support, helping you understand and manage your symptoms and improve day-to-day comfort.
Sports injury recovery
For athletes and active people, MLD can be a valuable addition to injury rehabilitation. By encouraging the drainage of excess fluid and metabolic waste from injured tissue, it can help reduce swelling and stiffness, ease discomfort and support a faster, more comfortable return to training and activity.
Everyday wellbeing
You don't need to be recovering from surgery or managing a condition to benefit from MLD. Your lymphatic system plays a key role in immune function and in clearing waste products from your tissues, but it has no pump of its own and relies on movement and manual stimulation to keep fluid moving efficiently. MLD supports this natural process. Many clients find it a helpful way to manage general fluid retention, support their immune system, and simply give their body a chance to reset; particularly during periods of stress, illness, hormonal change, or reduced activity.
MLD is often confused with regular massage, but it's a distinct, highly skilled therapy that requires extensive training and regular professional review to practise safely and effectively. Choosing a therapist registered with a recognised body such as MLD UK, and with specific experience in your condition, whether that's post-surgical care, lymphoedema or sports recovery - ensures you're getting safe, effective, individually tailored treatment.

When you get in touch to book your first MLD appointment, we'll start by finding a time that works around your schedule. We work before, during, and after standard work day times - and if that doesn't work for you, we can arrange a weekend appointment.
When you arrive, your consultation will take place in our comfortable treatment room. You'll have the opportunity to discuss your issue with one of our expert therapists and, in turn, they'll ask some questions and discuss their thoughts about the kind of sports massage techniques they think will be most effective.
Ordinarily, a treatment plan will involve a series of sessions - but we'll talk to you when you're here about if that's appropriate. We'll also explain how you can book these in advance - and the discounts available when you do.
We'll be able to start your MLD during your consultation - so it's a good idea to come in loose, comfortable sports clothing. Don't worry if you've come straight from work - you're welcome to use our private changing area.
